Looking for playtesters for a very early build of the demo


LOOKING FOR PLAYTESTERS FOR MY VERY EARLY DEMO PROTOTYPE

Hello all! 🌱 I’m looking for playtesters for a (very very early) demo of my cozy farming game! I’m aware there is not much here in terms of gameplay yet, but I built a small framework and I would like to get some feedback before I keep building on top of it. I very much hope you like my little game! 💛 Thank you if you take the time to try it! (The demo can be found in the ownload section)

How to play:

Move: D-Pad

Switch between tools: Crank

Perform action/ use tool: A-Button

(You can also place inventory items in one of your quick slots by selecting it with the A-Button when the inventory is opened)

Close Inventory: B-Button

Right now all you can really do is plant seeds, water them to make them grow and collect the crops when they are grown, but I still hope you like what I’ve managed to make so far. 😊 Note: Time passes extremely quickly for playtesting and debugging purposes and I will of course change this as soon as there is more to do to pass the time while crops are growing!

If you tried the demo I’d be grateful if you take a few minutes to let me know what you think!

Below are some things I’m specifically looking to get feedback on, but I would of course be happy about any and all kinds of advice or feedback!

1.Controls:

You use the D-Pad to move, the A-Button to use a tool or perform an action (like opening the inventory or watering plants) and the B-Button to cancel. The crank is used to switch tools/actions that will be performed when pressing A. You can also use the crank to scroll through your inventory. I’d like to know if the controls feel intuitive, especially the crank to switch between tools.

2.UI:

Right now the UI is mostly placeholder art. It is visible when the crank is undocked so that it doesn’t take up too much of the screen all the time, but I wonder if it should just always be visible . Also, I implemented a quickslot to show which tool or action is selected, along with a text display that is mainly there to let the player know which item is placed in the quick slot, which doesn’t have an icon at the moment.

What bothers me about this is that you don’t see what the next tool is when you keep scrolling. I had the idea to replace the quickslot icon by a sidebar. the sidebar will contain all the tools and there could be a cursor to indicate which one is currently selected.

3.Artwork:

I’m quite happy with how the art style turned out so far. However, I’d like to know if you think it looks good on the small screen, as I’m not entirely sure everything is readable.

Unable to sideload the play testing demo

Thank you for letting me know! Can you tell me what went wrong? I just tested it again and it worked for me. I just dragged the downloaded .zip file into the sideload window from my download folder.

I was able to sideload it on the websites side but it never showed up on my device. No matter how many times I retried it never showed up for download.

Hm that’s very strange, it works on my device so I naively thought it would work for everyone else as well. Sorry for your troubles, I hope I can find out what the problem is!

Hey, I asked people on the discord server, they said it works for them as well. They pointed out that you could check if your firmware is 2.5.0, as that could help :)
